The foundation was established for the perpetuation of the memory of Hannah and her comrades. The foundation is recognized as a non-profit organization by the tax authority of Israel. The establishment of the foundation was initiated by the Senesh family, members from Kibbutz Sdot Yam and from among the general public.
As far back to 1950, the members of Kibbutz Sdot Yam established a Culture Center in the memory of Hannah called ''Beit Hannah''. The place consists of a memorial hall with an audio-visual presentation about Hannah's life story, a study center for school children, an archive, a modest display of her literary legacy, and the Kibbutz library.

Hannah Senesh, a star that lights the way for us, volunteered for a rescue mission in Europe for saving the Jewish people during World War II. Hanna was captured, tortured and executed by firing squad in Budapest, Hungary on November 7, 1944 at the age of 23. After establish the state of Israel Hannah became a national heroine.
